About the Role

The Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) is an Agency of the Scottish Government responsible for the assessment and payment of student financial support for Scottish Students studying within the UK.
SAAS administer budgets of around 1.4 billion each year making payments to both higher education institutions and over 190000 students a year. We are committed to recruiting a diverse workforce that is representative of the clients we serve.
This short term appointment supports resilience within the Corporate Office during a period of increased activity linked to governance business planning and the production of the Annual Report & Accounts.

This role will be central to ensuring strong coordination across governance activities supporting delivery of the Annual Report & Accounts and maintaining business continuity arrangements. The successful candidate will need to be confident working at pace managing several concurrent priorities and producing highquality outputs from day one.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate governance activity including agendas papers forward plans and highquality information flow across senior groups.
  • Lead coordination of the Annual Report & Accounts process ensuring timely contributions quality assurance of content and smooth delivery against deadlines.
  • Support the maintenance and review of business continuity arrangements and directorate plans.
  • Track progress on key organisational actions ensure updates are collected and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Produce clear concise briefings summaries and reports for senior leaders.
  • Build strong working relationships and act as a central point of contact for corporate queries.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and strengthen operational and administrative processes.
  • Provide flexible support to corporate initiatives and emerging priorities.

Working pattern

This role is a temporary position with an expected commitment of 6 months.

You will be expected to attend the office at Saughton House in person 6 days a month.
