The NPI Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of new product introductions (NPI) at Jabil. This position supports product launches by executing inspections supporting validation activities resolving quality issues and maintaining compliance with engineering and quality standards. The role partners closely with Engineering Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure successful product release and continuous improvement throughout the NPI lifecycle.
Inspection & Quality Assurance
Perform incoming in-process first article (FAI) and final inspections in accordance with engineering specifications and quality requirements.
Inspect electronic and mechanical components including PCBs and PCBAs.
Support product certification validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and product release readiness.
Quality Systems & Documentation
Develop and maintain inspection plans control plans and quality documentation.
Maintain accurate records within Jabils quality management system.
Manage non-conformance documentation QA holds and product disposition.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Investigate defects and non-conforming material using structured root cause methodologies (e.g. 8D 5 Whys).
Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze quality data and generate reports to support decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Engineering Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to resolve NPI quality issues.
Provide training and guidance on inspection methods and quality requirements.
Support audits risk assessments and customer complaint investigations related to NPI products.
Communication & Project Support
Provide timely updates on NPI quality status and escalate risks when needed.
Recommend improvements to inspection methods testing processes and equipment.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety policies and support environmental management system initiatives.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications (ASQ CQT Six Sigma IPC) preferred.
2 years of experience in quality assurance manufacturing or NPI environments.
Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing SMT and mechanical assembly processes.
Ability to read engineering drawings specifications and use inspection equipment.
Knowledge of quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001 AS9100 or ISO 13485.
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033 preferred.
Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced cross-functional environment.
