Job Summary
Senior Registered Nurse - Wards
Sarum Road Hospital
37.5 Hours & Permanent

We have an opportunity for a Senior Registered Nurse to join their team of staff in the Wards department. This vacancy would suit an experienced staff nurse or junior sister/charge nurse.
This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. Working a varied shift pattern across the week you will be accountable for the safety quality and flow of the ward while promoting team wellbeing and high standards of care. You will need to proactively collaborate with the Ward Sister and Manager to develop and improve patient services and experience.
Currently we care for a mix of NHS and private patients undergoing a variety of orthopaedic general gynaecology and other elective surgeries.
We are developing pathways in medical oncology enhanced care and discharge and there is investment and expansion of multiple services and our site in progress.
Through the process we are able to offer informal department visits/calls.
Duties of this role include:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care and lead on the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of care for complex patients.
- Use advanced clinical knowledge to make timely and appropriate decisions escalating where necessary.
- Administer medication safely and monitor patient response ensuring adherence to NMC and local protocols.
- Provide day-to-day supervision and support to nursing and healthcare assistant staff.
- Delegate tasks appropriately ensuring safe and effective workload management across the shift.
- Act as a shift leader where required including coordinating staffing managing admissions/discharges and ensuring efficient patient flow.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with active NMC registration.
- Significant post-registration experience in an acute or relevant clinical setting.
- Proven ability to lead mentor and support a nursing team.
- Strong clinical decision-making problem-solving and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Confidence in working independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
