About this role
TheVP Data Platform Managed Services & Operationsprovideshands-on operational leadershipfor enterprise data platforms includingETL/ELT pipelines orchestration frameworks (e.g. Airflow) streaming platforms and Snowflake workloadsoperatingoncloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP). The role combinesstrong troubleshootingexpertisewith atransformation mindset drivingSLA adherence platform stability and continuous improvement. A key focus is onmodernizing operations through automation andAIassistedmonitoring enabling proactive scalable and resilient data platform support while leading a small globally aligned operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Ownership
Leaddaily production operationsfor ETL/ELT pipelines orchestration frameworks streaming systems and Snowflake workloads.
Act as thefirst escalation pointfor L1/L2 incidents ensuringtimelytriage mitigation and communication.
Execute and overseepipeline reruns data validations reconciliations and operational checksin line with defined runbooks.
Ensure consistentSLA adherencefordata availability freshness and incident response.
Monitoring & Observability
Ensure effective use ofmonitoring alerting and observability toolsto proactivelyidentifyoperational risks.
Apply strongtroubleshooting and diagnostic skillsto investigate alerts data delays pipeline failures and quality issuesidentifyingroot causes across orchestration compute storage and dependencies.
Monitor trends indata latency and data quality escalating systemic risks where.
Incident & Problem Management
Coordinateincident response activities including impact assessment root cause investigation support andpostincidentdocumentation.
Work closely with engineering teams tohandoff complex issuesandvalidatefixes.
Track recurring failures and data quality issues contributing toRCA and corrective actions.
Team Leadership
Lead coach and supportAnalysts and Associatesduring shifts and handovers.
Assign work manage priorities and ensure coverage across operational hours.
Supportonboarding ofnew team members andreinforce operational best practices.
Operational Improvement
Identifyopportunities toreduce manual effortthrough scripting automation and process improvements.
Maintain and improverunbooks checklists and operational documentation.
Supportonboarding ofnew pipelines and use cases byvalidatingoperational readiness.
Clientfacingcommunication (incidents & onboarding)
Act as a trusted operational contact for clients duringonboardinggolives and production incidents clearly communicatingplatform readiness SLAs risks incidents and remediation plans and translating complexdata platform Snowflake and orchestration (Airflow)topics into conciseclientreadyupdates through transition to steady state.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Solid understanding of data platforms including data lakes data warehouses streaming and Snowflake.
Handson experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow).
Practical knowledge of monitoring alerting and observability concepts.
