Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Applied Scientist passionate about building intelligent agents that reason plan and act across complex advertising workflows.
Ads Agent is an AI agent that simplifies how advertisers plan launch and optimize campaigns. Powered by AI Ads Agent works alongside advertisers to automate time-consuming tasks like identifying targeting segments adjusting pacing across hundreds of campaigns and generating SQL queries for advanced analytics. It also provides data-driven recommendations and simplifies analysisall while providing transparency and control. With a broad mandate to experiment and innovate we need applied scientists to define and build the future of advertising.
Key job responsibilities
- Design build and evaluate agentic systemsthat plan multi-step workflows invoke tools and take autonomous actions across Amazon Ads products on behalf of advertisers.
- Define evaluation frameworks and benchmarksfor agent reliability correctness safety and advertiser satisfaction.
- Analyze agent behavior through deep data analysis and rigorous A/B experimentation to identify failure modes measure effectiveness and derive business insights.
- Partner with engineers product managers and UX designers to ship end-to-end agent experiences that are scalable efficient and reliable at Amazon scale.
About the team
We are a small fast-moving team building a unified AI-native interface to all of Amazon Advertising. We sit at the intersection of large language models agentic AI and one of the worlds most complex advertising ecosystems. - 3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD or Masters degree and 6 years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
- Experience building and evaluating agentic systems (e.g. tool-use agents multi-step planners autonomous workflows).
- Deep understanding of generative modelling and large language models including transformers pre-training fine-tuning RLHF retrieval-augmented generation and structured decoding.
- Experience with personalization recommendation systems or systems that learn from user feedback.
- Familiarity with advertising technology campaign optimization or marketplace dynamics.
- Track record of publications at top-tier venues (NeurIPS ICLR ICML etc.).

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
