Job Summary

THIS ROLE IS OPEN TO BLIND AND LOW VISION CANDIDATES ONLY

Trainee position for 22 weeks - 25 hours per week over 4 days
Active participation in the Careers Vision program as an opportunity to gain new skills towards finding long term employment
Program includes Certificate 1 in Workplace Skills 8 week classroom based learning module and 10 week placement in host employment

About the Opportunity

Vision Australia and Partnering with Skilling Queenslanders for Work Careers Vision project will enable people who are blind or have low vision to develop practical workplace skills with a goal of gaining positive employment experience. Vision Australia is partnering with TAFE Queensland to offer six traineeships. Trainees will complete a Certificate I in Workplace Skills.

About You

Basic to medium level technology skills including use of the Microsoft Office Suite. PC keyboard skills in Zoomtext or JAWs or other magnification program.
Ability to reflect on own professional practice analytical and problem solving skills.
Sound written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Sound planning organisation and time management skills.
Ability to establish and build positive working relationships with a diverse range of staff and fellow students at all levels.
