Other Conditions: For placement in lecturer pool for Summer 2026. Contingent upon student enrollment position availability course offerings departmental need and funding. Lecturer positions are part-time non-tenure. Lecturers are required to reside in and teach from Hawaii.

Duties and Responsibilities:To teach one or more courses within a range of topics that include depending on the qualifications of lecturers:

  • MBBE 402 - Principles of Biochemistry

Responsible for conducting all scheduled classes; meeting course requirements as established by the department/program preparing course syllabus setting exams and homework grading maintaining weekly office hours and being accessible to students.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. M.S. degree agriculture plant breeding or molecular biology from an accredited university/institution by time of appointment.
  2. Demonstrated ability to teach college-level face-to-face lecture and laboratory courses.
  3. Working knowledge of plant biochemistry cellular and molecular biology.
  4. Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to collaborate with faculty staff students and external stakeholders.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. or doctoral degree in agriculture plant breeding biochemistry molecular biology or related field.
  2. Success teaching large-enrollment sections and supervising GTAs/labs.
  3. Demonstrated hands-on training innovations (e.g. Plant metabolic pathways).
  4. Experience coordinating internships and industry partnerships; experience advising student clubs.
