We have an opportunity for a Metrology Specialist.
Job Summary
The Metrology Specialist is accountable to the Validation Manager for all activities involving the administration of the master calibration specifications and the computerized calibration program in accordance with the requirements outlined in Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. The Metrology Specialist schedules and performs timely calibration of measuring and test equipment. This individual will support the operations department in preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance of plant instrumentation controls and electronic equipment
Responsibilities
- Maintains the Master and Working Calibration Specifications for all existing and new equipment as required.
- Schedules and coordinates the completion of calibration activities with other departments.
- Recognizes and/or anticipates problems and takes necessary actions and/or notifies responsible individuals so as not to significantly affect schedules.
- Performs timely calibrations on facilities warehouse and laboratory equipment as specified in various calibration Standard Operating Procedures. Calibration of measuring and test equipment includes electronics time and frequency temperature pressure mass force sound light and flow disciplines.
- Schedules outside vendors to perform calibration activities as specified in Calibration Standard Operating Procedures.
- Analyzes and verifies technical validity of calibration records and results ensuring accuracy of calibration data and completeness.
- Completes/reviews and files all calibration documentation. Ensures all associated documents tags and incident reports are completed filed or placed appropriately.
- Initiates Change Control Request forms to make necessary changes to calibration Standard Operating Procedures master calibration files and/or the computerized calibration program.
- Writes evaluates and maintains calibration Standard Operating Procedures as required ensuring compliance with GMP guidelines and company goals.
- Initiates Deviation Incident Report forms to notify of any instruments that are out of tolerance or that have not been calibrated on time.
- Supports the operations department in preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance of plant instrumentation controls and electronic equipment.
- Supports the validation department in validation projects.
- Observes and supports all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Demonstrates the Company Mission Vision and Values Statements policies and current standard business practices.
- Follows GMP and regulatory requirements and ensures quality standards are met.
- Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
Education
- Post secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution is required.
- Electrical license (309A) is an asset.
Experience
- Excellent knowledge on instrumentation and field control devices used in the pharmaceutical industry. Formal training or certification in metrology or instrumentation is an asset.
- 3 years experience in calibration and instrumentation in and industrial environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Proven analytical trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
- Effective organizational time management and detail-orientation skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision taking initiative and prioritizing work.
- Project management experience with the ability to lead and take ownership on systems and projects.
