Provide a level of support for operational and research activities of the Biomedical Genetics section. As the Research Administrative Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Section Chief and Administrative Director of the section.
- Ordering supplies and equipment for the administrative office and research programs of several faculty-level investigators.
- Receiving and delivering packages containing biological specimens to core and research laboratories.
- Maintaining the activity calendar of the Section Chief and scheduling research-related virtual and in-person meetings.
- Providing administrative support for faculty course directors.
- Answering the phone and greeting visitors.
This position requires a willingness to assist a diverse community and take on other responsibilities as they occur.
Required Skills
- A minimum of an associate degree with bachelors degree prefers or equivalent and 1 work year experience.
- Must have professional work ethic positive and friendly attitude; be willing and able to perform multiple tasks that require considerable judgment tact and understanding of the organizations procedures especially on confidential matters; must be willing to learn and adapt to office environment.
- Familiarity with the BUMC/ BU environment is desired as well as efficiency in time management organization accuracy and attention to detail especially in preparing and verifying important documents.
Skill requirements:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint; website maintenance is desirable.
- Familiarity with Blackboard Doodle and Survey Monkey are preferable.
- Excellent writing and editing skills as well as good interpersonal skills. Dependability is expected as well as flexibility during events.
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service abilities and be able to adjust to individual needs of students staff and faculty.
