Position Summary
A healthcare facility in Syracuse NY is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit. The LPN will provide nursing care to patients aged 517 years assisting the healthcare team in delivering safe compassionate and effective psychiatric care.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in behavioral health or psychiatric settings and demonstrate strong communication skills while supporting patients and their families.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in an acute behavioral health setting
Monitor and record vital signs and patient progress
Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
Prepare exam rooms and set up trays for injections and treatments
Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms
Maintain accurate patient documentation and chart preparation
Support scheduling reception and general office duties when needed
Communicate effectively with patients families and the healthcare team
Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain authorizations for procedures and treatments
Contact primary care physicians to obtain referrals or referral extensions for patient care services
Maintain clean organized and fully stocked clinical areas
Follow all patient safety infection control and facility protocols
Required Qualifications
Active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric or behavioral health experience
Experience working with children and adolescents preferred
Prior inpatient care experience preferred
Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills
Required Certifications
Preferred Experience
Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
Experience working in child and adolescent mental health units
Familiarity with patient care coordination and clinical documentation systems
