Overview

Enemix are partnering with an Energy Retailer seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Energy Markets Manager to lead their electricity market entry and participation strategy within the National Electricity Market (NEM). This pivotal role will focus on leveraging their gas assets to optimise financial outcomes through strategic engagement in wholesale electricity markets commercial negotiations and regulatory compliance. The Senior Energy Markets Manager is responsible for leading our electricity market entry and participation strategy within the NEM. This includes negotiating commercial agreements with partners and stakeholders establishing commercial operations activities and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations. The role is central to driving value through deep power market engagement contract negotiation and the development of strategies that optimize financial outcomes from gas assets through various commercial and physical arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for entering and participating in electricity markets particularly for gaspowered generation assets.
  • Lead and negotiate commercial arrangements such as gas tolling power swaps PPAs hedge contracts and partnerships with generators and developers.
  • Build financial models business cases and valuation frameworks to guide pricing investment decisions and market participation.
  • Design systems and processes to monitor AEMO data market conditions regulatory changes and ensure compliant market operations.
  • Manage licensing registration regulatory engagement and alignment with evolving policy and compliance frameworks.
  • Establish and maintain risk management frameworks including controls procedures stress testing and documentation of trading and operational decisions.
  • Collaborate across internal teams to develop contract management systems operational processes and commercial governance structures.
  • Communicate complex information effectively lead cultural and collaboration initiatives and drive improvements in commercial practices and frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the National Electricity Market (NEM) including commercial negotiation business development gas and electricity trading wholesale market operations energy contracting and risk management.
  • Strong understanding of electricity pricing tolling retail contracts and market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in energy data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Excellent negotiation communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to think through complex problems and provide strategic solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Willingness to travel to the corporate headquarters for approximately two weeks per month.
  • Ability to work effectively in virtual environments and meet tight deadlines.
