Primary Function
Provides specialized nursing care for individuals with acute and chronic behavioral health needs in a high-security facility emphasizing safety stabilization and continuity of care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health nursing assessments medication administration and monitoringfortherapeutic response and side effects.
- Implement suicide prevention protocols observation levels and de-escalation techniques.
- Coordinate with psychiatrists psychologists and custody staff for treatment planning and crisis intervention.
- Maintainaccuratedocumentation MARs and handoffs;participatein CQI and case reviews.
- Provide psychoeducation groups and discharge/transfer planning to support continuity of care.
Job Requirements
- Active RN license with at least 2 years of psychiatric/behavioral health experience.
- BLS/CPR; CPI or equivalent de-escalation certification preferred.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology suicide risk assessment and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary clearances and credentials required for access to detention facilities.
- Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident resided in the U.S. for 3 years in the past 5 years.
- Must complete all required training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing.
- Experiencein correctional or forensic settings.
- ANCC PsychiatricMental Health Nursing certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred); or fluency in other languages.
- Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been grantedfavorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
- Work is performed in a secure detention facility.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work in a secure facility and comply with security protocols.
- Ability to stand walk or sit for extended periods and lift up to 2535 lbs as role requires.
