The Senior Buyer is a strategic supply chain professional responsible for material availability vendor performance cost management and ERP system integrity.
This role goes beyond transactional purchasing it requires foresight ownership and the ability to proactively identify risks before they impact operations. The Senior Buyer will play a key role in supporting planning functions within the ERP system improving purchasing processes and driving continuous cost and performance improvements across the supply chain. This position will also provide day-to-day guidance and oversights to the purchasing team.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Purchasing & Supply Chain Management
- Manage procurement of raw materials and critical components to support production schedules and maintain material availability.
- Monitor shortage reports identify supply risks and proactively resolve delivery or lead-time issues with suppliers.
- Identify and implement cost-savings opportunities including alternate sourcing bulk purchasing and value engineering initiatives.
- Track and report supplier performance metrics including delivery performance lead times and cost trends.
Vendor Management
- Manage supplier relationships including performance pricing lead times and contract terms.
- Contact vendors to resolve past-due orders and coordinate delivery timelines.
- Communicate with operations regarding delays or supply issues that could impact production schedules.
Purchasing Operations
- Review and process purchase order confirmations to ensure accurate system data.
- Update vendor purchase order due dates and follow up on missing confirmations.
- Assist in purchasing supply and maintenance items to support operations.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between receipts and invoices.
Inventory & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Production Engineering and Accounting to resolve supply chain inventory or system issues.
- Support inventory accuracy and raw material management within the stockroom.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Serve as ERP subject matter expert for purchasing and planning functions.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP system and support continuous process improvements.
Team Support
- Provide guidance training and task oversight to members of the purchasing team to support departmental efficiency and performance.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel Word and Outlook..
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- 5 years of supply chain or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within an ERP system required knowledge of Genius a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
