Job Summary

Partnership With Children (PWC) strengthens the mental health and well-being of New York City students by embedding licensed social workers and comprehensivesupportsdirectly in schools reaching over20000 childrenand families each year. Across our core partner schools we build ecosystems of support that empower students support families and transform schools through trauma-informed counseling community-based programming and healing-based arts educationcreating nurturing environments that foster resilience learning and opportunity.

Partnership with Children provides critical counseling school-wide services and family and community outreach in high-poverty New York City public schools so students can reach their full potential. The Beacon Programs are school-based Community Centers funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). Beacon programs operate during after school hours weeknights weekends and during summer vacation and school holidays providing a wide range of services and activities for children and their families as well as classes for adults of all ages.

Group Leaders play a key role in creating a safe engaging and structured environment for children attending Summer Rising with PwC. They support daily activities encourage positive social interactions and help ensure that participants have a fun and meaningful summer experience.


In this role you will :
  • Ensure the health safety and well-being of participants in the program by providing appropriate supervision at all times.
  • Supporting the Activity Specialist during lessons.
  • Support smooth program operations by assisting with transitions attendance tracking and participant supervision throughout the day.
  • Prepare the learning environment and necessary supplies for program activities. Assume responsibility for the cleanliness and organization of the classroom program supplies and activity space.
  • Notify supervisors of behaviors or incidents that impact participant safety or program operations. This includes the proactive reporting of incidents involving physical injury or emotional/social harm-doing.
  • Assist with chaperoning trips (Fridays)
  • Follow all guidelines and protocols outlined by Partnership With Children the
    Department of Education Department of Youth and Community Development and the Department of Health.
  • Attend all required meetings and training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years old and have a High School Diploma or Equivalent;
  • Some experience working with children is preferred;
  • All staff must successfully complete required background checks and clearances including OCFS and NYC DOE PETS clearance prior to beginning employment.

Salary and Working Hours:
  • $17/hour
Summer Schedule:
  • On Boarding/Required Training: June 29 June 30 and July 1
  • Part-Time Seasonal (July 1st August 14th)
Approximately 40 hours per week
(**No Programming on July 3rd**)
  • This position is fully in-person and does not offer any remote work.
