GENERAL DUTIES:
Serves as the Districts subject matter expert (SME) for all employee leave programs. This role provides both expert-level technical oversight of all leave functions. Responsibilities encompass the end-to-end oversight of all leaves including Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA/ADAAA) reasonable accommodation for return to work military leave and other District-authorized leaves ensuring full compliance with applicable federal and Oregon state laws Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) District Board policies and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). This position works independently makes decisions within their area of expertise and is expected to demonstrate professionalism and support District Employee Leave Specialist serves as a trusted technical advisor to administrators principals supervisors and employees throughout the District and partners cross-departmentally with Human Resources Payroll and Risk Management to ensure integrated accurate and legally defensible leave administration.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
- Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications including but not limited to email and systems applications
- Experience in strong organizational systems
- Experience working within organizations that operate under collective bargaining agreements including working knowledge of how CBAs affect leave entitlement and HR administration
- Ability to interpret policies regulations and medical documentation related to employee leave
