Job Details:
The Chief Facilities Officer reports to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Affairs and provides the leadership supervision and oversight of the Facilities Planning and Management department for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater including the Rock County location. This position serves as partner and advisor to university leadership on facilities management including capital planning design and construction; campus planning and landscape architecture; environment health and safety; physical plant facility maintenance grounds maintenance custodial services transportation services and the associated business and support services.
Provide leadership and administrative direction for the UW Whitewater Facilities Planning and Management department
Oversees the university long range capital planning process and assumes responsibility for key strategic construction projects
Serve as a partner and advisor to university leadership on facilities management and construction issues for the Whitewater and Rock County campus locations
Provides leadership guidance and direction in evaluating and meeting the facility and infrastructure needs of the university
Responsible for the development of departmental strategic initiatives project prioritization and operational budgets
Represents the university in matters related to the physical development of the campus with university departments and programs system local state and federal government public and private sector representatives and the general public
Fosters a safe work environment in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) federal state and local regulations
Promotes a positive productive and proactive customer-oriented work environment
Exercises supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked

Compensation:
The minimum starting salary for this position will be $135000 candidates can expect a salary commensurate with the candidates education related experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
Eight years of progressive relevant experience in facilities operations and management including supervisory leadership
Demonstrated ability to plan organize coordinate and direct facility and physical plant activities
Demonstrated ability to foster a supportive inclusive and collaborative workplace environment
Experience in a university or other multi-facility complex
Demonstrated ability to plan organize coordinate direct and control all aspects of physical plant activities
Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements related to public facilities
Knowledge and experience in the management of natural areas
Experience developing and maintaining compliance financial budgeting and reporting and effective business operations
Experience with long range and strategic planning
Effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to customer service
Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
