About the branch:
The Building Safety and Standards Branch ensures that the structures in which we live work and play are safely constructed. The branch develops interprets administers and enforces building plumbing electrical and mechanical standards. It also works with the City of Whitehorse to develop shared inspection standards that contribute to safer dwellings workplaces and public spaces. Skilled safety inspectors conduct a variety of inspections including building electrical plumbing oil heating wood stove boiler elevator and gas.
About the job:
Reporting to the Chief Electrical Inspector this position is responsible for conducting electrical inspections on all construction projects throughout Yukon to ensure that electrical installations are safe and that they comply with the Canadian Electrical Code and theElectrical Protection Actand Regulations.

Job Requirements: Lifting weights up to 25lbs; climbing ladders and scaffolding; working in confined spaces; extensive travel throughout Yukon primarily by motor vehicle; working in adverse weather conditions; and mandatory use of personal protective equipment in accordance with branch safety procedures.
