About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Art across Key Stages 3 and 4 delivering engaging lessons that develop pupils technical skills creativity and confidence in artistic expression.
You will encourage pupils to explore a range of artistic disciplines including drawing painting sculpture mixed media and potentially digital art. Lessons should promote experimentation and creative thinking while helping pupils understand artistic techniques and processes.
The role will also involve supporting pupils in developing portfolios and creative projects preparing them for GCSE coursework and assessments where applicable.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering engaging Art lessons across KS3 and KS4
Teaching a wide range of artistic techniques including drawing painting and mixed media
Encouraging creativity experimentation and independent artistic development
Supporting pupils in building sketchbooks and creative portfolios
Assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback
Contributing to the development of the Art curriculum and departmental resources
Supporting art displays exhibitions and school creative events
Maintaining a safe organised and inspiring studio environment
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Have strong subject knowledge in Art and Design
Demonstrate enthusiasm for creative teaching and pupil engagement
Possess strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be committed to supporting pupils of all abilities
Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
