About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Chemistry across Key Stages 3 and 4 with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. Lessons will combine theoretical understanding with practical application to develop pupils scientific knowledge analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality Chemistry lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Teaching core Chemistry concepts including atomic structure chemical reactions bonding and organic chemistry

  • Developing pupils practical laboratory skills and promoting safe working practices

  • Encouraging curiosity independent thinking and problem-solving in lessons

  • Assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback to support achievement

  • Contributing to curriculum development and departmental planning

  • Supporting enrichment activities such as science clubs competitions and trips

  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety in Chemistry laboratories

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • Have strong subject knowledge in Chemistry

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and inspiring pupils of all abilities

  • Possess excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be committed to promoting academic excellence and supporting pupil progress

  • Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school including extracurricular activities
