Part-time Middle School teacher (grades 7-8) sought for the 2026-2027 school year to work in a small independent elementary school. **For the right candidate we would also consider full-time**The whole school has fewer than 25 students currently although we are growing each year and we keep our classes small so that our teaching can be based in building strong relationships with each student. The school is rooted in a project-based approach that draws from Reggio-Inspired learning emergent curriculum Montessori background and believes in honoring children. We are looking for an inspired and inspiring educator and learning coach who believes that all children are capable and possess unique gifts to work with a small class of students in grades 7-8 for the upcoming school year and beyond. Class size limited to 10 students maximum. We have found that this age group has some gaps in their foundational skills as a result of the interruption in schooling from the pandemic and while our students are generally in the age range of grades 4-5 there are students with varying academic abilities and comfort in teaching literacy and math at multiple levels. The school uses a mixed-age model and the Oak Meadow curriculum serves as the backbone of the curriculum although teachers incorporate student interest project-based instruction to create relevant meaningful practical and engaging lessons and units. We spend a lot of time outside and we believe in providing hand-on activities as well as teaching practical life skills. We have different educators come in for various subjects and our teachers also teach subjects to all of our students when their interest aligns with that must possess a bachelors degree in elementary or middle school education (or related field) and must have experience working with children in elementary middle or early high school grades. Current VT teaching license preferred. Experience working with students at multiple levels and with varying abilities including those who have identified learning differences and challenges is preferred. Candidates must also be values-aligned believing entirely in the philosophy and approach of the school. Information about the school can be found at is a 10-month salaried part-time position and the standard workday is 8-12:30 with students present from 8:05-3:05. This position is to cover the academic portion of the school day through lunch and the teacher would be responsible for the lesson planning assessments documentation and instruction for the students from morning drop off until they finish lunch. Other teachers would be with the students for the remainder of the day during the afternoon specials.
