Position Title: Custodial Night Shift Supervisor

SUMMARY:
Supervises and coordinates an effective maintenance programs that will keep the district physical sites in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times by maintaining an attractive sanitary and safe facility for students staff and the public; providing equipment and ensuring that all custodial training/work assignments are completed in a safe proper and timely manner and overseeing and supporting assigned custodians in the performance of their assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the proper organization and functioning of personnel in respective groups.
- Establishes constant workflow productivity within groups being supervised.
- Supervises maintenance of all safety and code requirements of the state local and Board of Education guidelines.
- Enforces all job-related safety guidelines and procedures.
- Assists General Foreman in overall craft group functions concerning projects work-load materials equipment parts manpower scheduling etc.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the General Foreman.
- Required to be on 24 hour call.
- Conducts a variety of training and drills (e.g. fire intruder tornado health/safety etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that emergency procedures are in order alarm systems are operational and/or established procedures are effective.
- Coordinates routine and emergency shift schedules and assignments for the purpose of ensuring adequate staffing for site requirements.
- Distributes custodial supplies and equipment for the purpose of disseminating materials to custodial staff and/or storage locations.
- Inspects facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations maintained in an attractive and clean condition identifying necessary repairs to facilities and/or equipment etc.
- Oversees facility maintenance activities and functions of assigned personnel (e.g. reviewing work orienting training daily/task scheduling etc.) for the purpose of ensuring functions are performed efficiently in compliance with established standards.
- Participates in trainings meetings seminaries etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Performs minor job related maintenance preventative maintenance repairs and summer maintenance (e.g. custodial equipment classroom/common use furniture fixtures vacuums including changing belts/bags lockers sporting equipment light bulbs clogged drains strip/wax floors etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facility tools and equipment in operational order.
- Ensures Safety program of classified staff per OSHA general industry standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the foreman or principal.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Appropriate technical training. Ability to schedule work/projects on a timely productive basis. Ability to work in a productive mod while instructing subordinates.
Three years experience in maintenance work of which at least one year has been spent exhibiting a proven ability to supervise and lead relatively large groups of people.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees maintenance personnel assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
