Position Summary

Concordia University Wisconsin seeks a qualified applicant for a full-time (12-month) faculty program director position in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program housed within the School of Health Professions at the Mequon WI campus.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in leadership teaching scholarship and service and will contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and success of our CSWE-accredited MSW Program.

Applicants must also exhibit a clear dedication to the Christian mission of Concordia University and possess the ability to thoughtfully integrate a biblical worldview with the teaching and practice of professional social work.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Teaching and Mentoring

  • Develop and deliver high-quality engaging and inclusive instruction using a variety of pedagogical approaches in alignment with program goals and CSWE competencies.
  • Advise and mentor MSW students on academic professional and career development.
  • Integrate a Christian worldview in teaching mentoring and service consistent with the Concordia University mission

Program Leadership

  • Plan and schedule MSW courses
  • Recruit maintain and monitor MSW enrollment; manage student admission review process
  • Plan and conduct MSW information sessions and student orientations
  • Maintain curricular and policy documents related to the MSW program (catalog student handbook website brochures)
  • Manage academic disciplinary actions such as student reviews grade appeals and special petitions
  • Supervise mentor and support all social work program personnel; complete annual faculty and staff evaluations
  • Develop and monitor MSW annual budget
  • Develop maintain and facilitate the Department of Social Works Advisory Board
  • Actively participate in the continuous development and refinement of the MSW curriculum to ensure relevance rigor and alignment with professional standards.
  • Collaborate with MSW faculty in strategic planning initiatives for the growth and sustainability of the MSW program.

CSWE Accreditation

  • Lead and manage CSWE accreditation process including self-study guidelines and timelines to ensure continued MSW program accreditation.

Service

  • Collaborate with the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program and other academic programs within the School of Health Professions
  • Maintain active involvement in program-level and university-wide committees and uphold general faculty responsibilities (e.g. office hours faculty meetings program retreats) as outlined in the Concordia University Faculty Handbook
  • Provide service to the MSW program the School of Health Professions the University and the wider community in support of Concordias mission.
  • Other duties as assigned

Research and Scholarship

  • Pursue an active peer-reviewed research and scholarship agenda in accordance with standards outlined in the Concordia University Faculty Handbook.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of the intersections of social work and Christianity
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member and leader
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Knowledge and skills in program faculty and student development based on university guidelines and the Social Work Code of Ethics
  • Proven leadership and administrative skills within the field of social work in an academic setting
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and constructive relationships with aligned departments faculty administration throughout CUWAA and in the community.
  • Proven success in both face-to-face and online teaching environments with a strong understanding of instructional design and student engagement strategies.
  • Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (preferably Canvas) to support instruction communication and course organization.
  • Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards including program assessment curriculum mapping and competency-based education.
  • Capacity to integrate social work values and ethics with a biblical worldview in teaching advising and professional interactions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to serve a diverse student population
  • Capacity for independent initiative as well as team-based contributions to program development assessment and strategic planning.
  • Ability to mentor students in both academic and professional development fostering critical thinking ethical practice and reflective learning
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

  • Earned doctorate in Social Work
  • Minimum of five years experience as a practicing social worker
  • A record of accomplishment in teaching research and service in higher education appropriate to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time exempt (salary) 12-month faculty position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Concordia University benefit options include but are not limited to the following:
