Role Overview
The Equipment Engineer is responsible for the installation qualification maintenance and optimization of semiconductor manufacturing tools in a high-volume fab environment. The role focuses on ensuring equipment uptime process stability safety compliance and continuous improvement to support production yield and cost objectives.
The engineer will work closely with manufacturing process engineering facilities and vendor teams to ensure stable and efficient tool operations within a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Ownership & Maintenance

Own and maintain assigned semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Ensure high tool availability reliability and throughput to support production targets.

Perform systematic troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment issues.
-
Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime.
-
Monitor equipment performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
Tool Installation Hook-up & Qualification
-
Support equipment installation hook-up and commissioning activities.
-
Work with vendors and facilities teams during tool setup and integration.
-
Execute equipment qualification processes (IQ / OQ / PQ).
-
Support new tool deployment technology transfer and ramp-up activities.
Production & Process Support
-
Provide equipment engineering support for 24x7 fab manufacturing operations.
-
Work closely with process engineering teams to maintain process stability and yield.
-
Monitor tool health using SPC and FDC monitoring systems.
-
Identify and resolve deviations affecting production performance.
Preventive Maintenance & Documentation
-
Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans.
-
Maintain accurate equipment documentation including:
-
SOPs
-
Maintenance procedures
-
Equipment logs
-
Spare parts inventory
-
Ensure proper documentation for audits and operational standards.
Safety Quality & Compliance
-
Follow EHS guidelines related to hazardous gases chemicals electrical systems and vacuum equipment.

Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and semiconductor manufacturing protocols.
-
Participate in safety audits risk assessments and incident investigations.
-
Maintain compliance with SEMI and ISO standards where applicable.
Continuous Improvement
-
Support initiatives to improve equipment uptime productivity and cycle time.
-
Contribute to cost reduction and process optimization programs.
-
Participate in equipment data analysis and automation improvement projects.
-
Collaborate with global engineering teams and equipment vendors to implement best practices.
Qualifications Education
Bachelors degree in one of the following disciplines:
Diploma holders with relevant semiconductor fab equipment experience may also be considered.
Experience

2 10 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or equipment engineering.

Hands-on experience working in semiconductor fab or cleanroom environments preferred.
-
Exposure to 24x7 manufacturing operations or shift-based environments is advantageous.

Experience working with equipment vendors or field service teams is beneficial.
Technical Skills

Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment fundamentals.
