Primary responsibilities will include:
Accounting and regulatory change
Analysis of new accounting and regulatory requirements (e.g leverage ratio prudential consolidation) as well as impact to Nomura entities
Communicating UK GAAP and IFRS technical updates to Finance and other members of staff
Work with the reporting and project teams to ensure accounting and regulatory change projects are delivered in line with the requirements
Represent the firms views and participate with industry forums
Preparing and delivering training materials on areas of accounting change or existing topic areas
Policy and interpretations
Development and maintenance of technical policy documents for technical topic areas
Liaison with the Accounting Policy Groups regional and global leadership to ensure global
consistency in application of accounting policies
Advisory
Point of contact for Finance colleagues and other departments on accounting-related queries
Developing and documenting technical interpretations and technical papers to support technical decisions
Liaison with regional auditors on resolution of technical accounting matters
Secondary responsibilities will include:
Providing input through technical research on regulatory and liquidity policy matters
Participation in ad hoc Finance initiatives and projects
Supporting various governance and control processes
Key objectives critical to success:
Ability to work independently to a high degree of accuracy with a logical and structured approach
Ability to self-review identify issues and investigate / escalate appropriately
Flexibility and the ability to keep pace with ever changing regulatory landscape
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and senior management and build relationships within the department across functions and across regions.
