Job Summary

SUMMER LABOURER

The Burnaby School District is hiring casual summer labourers for April through August 2026.

Duties will include the maintenance of district landscapes - including grass cutting and/or manual labour as well as operating various types of commercial landscaping equipment relevant to the work performed. Labourers may also assist with other groundskeeping duties and/or the transportation of materials equipment supplies furniture and mail throughout the School District.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants MUST currently be a secondary or post-secondary student (and returning to full-time post - secondary education in September 2026). Proof of current enrollment/program details must be submitted with your application.
  • Proven experience in landscape maintenance and groundskeeping and use of commercial landscaping equipment is preferred
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely
  • Ability to use power washer blowers and trimmers
  • Physical stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Honest and reliable
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Able to follow safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment


This position pays $29.49/hour and is expected to work 40 hours/week Monday through Friday. Hours of work are 07:00 15:30.
