Full-time position
The Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of high-quality meals while ensuring compliance with menus policies procedures and food safety regulations. This position maintains a clean and safe kitchen environment follows proper food handling practices and supports resident satisfaction through quality meal service.
Experience and training in professional cooking preferred
Applicable food service certification required or ability to obtain (such as ServSafe)
Knowledge of geriatric dietary needs and concerns preferred
Minimum age of 18 years
Ability to perform essential job functions physically and mentally
Ability to pass state-mandated criminal background screening and random drug testing
Prepare all foods and beverages according to approved menus policies procedures and regulations
Ensure meals are served on time and at proper temperatures
Prepare and offer substitute menu items when residents decline a selection as directed
Accurately complete required food safety documentation including temperature logs
Ensure food is served in an appetizing manner and at correct temperatures
Monitor returned plates and communicate concerns regarding food acceptance
Pay attention to resident likes dislikes and dietary preferences
Ensure compliance with diet orders and monitor resident nutritional status in coordination with the Resident Services Coordinator
Observe changes in resident food consumption and communicate concerns as needed
Supervise and assist Utility Workers and Server/Prep Assistants during assigned shifts
Support food production using high-quality and fresh ingredients when available
Report equipment malfunctions or facility issues promptly
Properly use food supplies and equipment to minimize waste damage or theft
Comply with HFA regulations HPM policies and ServSafe standards
Serve as a goodwill ambassador for the living center
Comply with Life Safety policies and participate in required drills
Participate in training opportunities
Report safety and health hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor
Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors across shifts
Report to work on time and as scheduled
Treat all residents with dignity and respect
Observe residents for changes in physical emotional cognitive or behavioral condition
Communicate observed changes to the Shift Supervisor
Follow infection control protocols
Uphold Resident Rights including confidentiality
Follow Employee Handbook guidelines
Perform other duties as required to meet the goals of the living center
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand walk bend stoop twist squat kneel push and pull for extended periods
Ability to perform physically repetitive work
Ability to tolerate hot cold and steam environments
Ability to work with strong smells and cleaning chemicals
Ability to safely handle pots pans and kitchen equipment for extended periods
