System Power Engineer, Ring Hardware

Ring is looking for a System Power Engineer who will be a part of our global electrical engineering team playing a critical role in ensuring the highest product quality standards and driving continuous improvement for the products.

As a member of the Power Engineering team you will develop and test power solutions for our next generation Doorbell/Camera hardware. You will be a power electronics subject matter expert in an engineering team responsible for both new product development as well as product sustaining and support. You will help grow the capabilities in our power test lab by creating/running new tests innovating new test processes and automating the execution of these tests.

This is a fast-paced intellectually challenging position and youll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. Youll have high standards for yourself and everyone you work with and youll be constantly looking for ways to improve products performance quality and cost.

You must be responsive flexible and able to succeed within a fast-paced environment. You are expected to represent as the Power Design owner and dive deep into the difficult problem for the root cause analysis and arrange appropriated solution for it.

Key job responsibilities
Lead system power architecture development from RFQ through mass production including design validation and manufacturing readiness.
Design prototype and validate power circuits including power management ICs voltage regulators battery charging systems and power distribution networks.
Develop comprehensive power test specifications acceptance criteria and validation procedures for all product development phases.
Debug and resolve power-related issues through root cause analysis implementing solutions or workarounds to meet product requirements.
Execute component qualification programs including second source evaluation cost reduction initiatives and supply chain optimization.
Provide technical support for sustaining engineering activities including failure analysis solution implementation and production issue resolution.

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or experience working in electrical engineering field
- Experience developing high quality test plans test designs test strategies and test execution
- 5 years of electrical engineering experience specifically in power electronics
- HW Lab experience: setting up prototypes developing tests and running tests
- Experience designing testing and debugging power electronics such as AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion switching power supplies driver circuits and battery systems

- Deep understanding of different power electronics circuit typologies
- Experience designing or testing products for safety compliance and regulatory standards
- Experience in working with overseas CM/OEM/ODM vendors in product development
- In-depth experience in Doorbell Camera and other IoT product development
- Knowledge of IoT infrastructure constraints including power tree power budget and battery life estimation
- Ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations; experience working in cross functional groups including mechanical engineering thermal engineering test reliability and failure analysis.
- Cross-organizational communication comfortable evangelizing ideas and concerns clearly and persuasively in both verbal and written forms.
- Experience with power performance and cost optimization
