Job Summary

**Job Specific Details and Tasks:**

The primary responsibilities encompass the following:

-

**Radiographic Equipment Operation:** Utilize both fixed and portable radiographic systems to generate routine diagnostic medical images. This entails calculating technical parameters and adjusting the console settings including kilovoltage milliamperage exposure duration and focal spot size to optimize image quality.

**Patient Positioning:** Accurately position patients to capture the necessary anatomical structures. Select appropriate imaging media adjust the patient positioning table and image receptor and align the x-ray tube for optimal distance and angle. Employ beam restriction techniques to maximize patient radiation protection before exposing and processing images.

**Imaging Protocols and Adjustments:** Determine the necessary imaging protocols and accompanying accessories making modifications based on examination requisites. Record process and manipulate images through advanced computer applications.

**Procedure Assistance:** Provide assistance to physicians during fluoroscopic procedures C-arm operations interventional imaging and specialized examinations. Instruct patients in preparation for these procedures and help with the administration of contrast media. Maintain the emergency response cart and aid physicians in managing any adverse reactions to contrast material. Prepare sterile supplies and necessary equipment.

- **Equipment Operation:** Maneuver auxiliary equipment as required including operating radiographic apparatus within sterile environments for surgical and fluoroscopic support.

**Diagnostic Imaging Activities:** Conduct general diagnostic imaging tasks including cleaning and inspecting equipment. Manage patient reception schedule appointments process examination requests and related documentation and file images and reports. Input and maintain data within radiology information systems and electronic health records.

**Quality Assurance:** Review images to ensure compliance with established quality standards. Execute routine equipment quality control measures. Monitor staff adherence to safety protocols including radiation safety and hazardous material communication alongside Air Force Occupational Safety and Health programs. Conduct testing on radiation protection devices. Facilitate training and evaluate the competency of staff and students while ensuring the appropriateness of care and completeness of examination requests.

**DEXA Scanning:** Conduct Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scans and operate associated equipment proficiently.

**Administrative Responsibilities:** Perform various administrative tasks such as uploading faxing and scanning patient documentation utilizing electronic health record systems.

**Quality Control Duties:** Responsible for the administration of orders including documentation verification entry and transcription. Operate image viewing systems and manipulate studies as necessary.

**Work Schedule:**Monday to Friday 8-hour shifts; available hours from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM allowing for minimal overtime throughout the year.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

**Education:** Completion of high school or an equivalent general education development certificate along with an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.

**Experience:** A minimum of two years of independent experience operating x-ray equipment generating and processing radiographs and assisting in fluoroscopic and specialized radiographic practices.

- **Licensure/Certification:** Current registration as a Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

**Life Support Certification:** Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).

**Security Clearance:** Capability to pass a government background check and obtain the necessary security clearance.
