Working under general supervision the Food Safety Technician 2 supports sanitation and food safety programs within a high-volume food manufacturing facility by performing cleaning and sanitation of production equipment facility infrastructure and employee welfare areas. This role helps maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and internal sanitation procedures to ensure a safe and hygienic production environment. Success in this role is measured by the consistent execution of sanitation procedures identification of potential food safety risks and support of regulatory compliance. Employees in this position may interact with their leader daily to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require their leaders advance approval but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.


  • Perform routine and deep sanitation of food processing equipment and surrounding production areas following established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and GMP requirements to maintain a hygienic food manufacturing environment.
  • Disassemble clean sanitize and reassemble bakery production equipment including dough dividers mixers conveyor systems and dough transfer pumps according to approved sanitation procedures.
  • Clean and maintain facility areas including production floors aisles offices laboratories breakrooms and restrooms using approved cleaning chemicals and sanitation methods.
  • Maintain employee hygiene stations by cleaning and disinfecting hand wash stations and ensuring sanitation supplies are stocked and functional.
  • Inspect sanitation work for completeness prior to supervisor verification and ensure all assigned areas meet internal sanitation and food safety standards.
  • Report equipment issues sanitation concerns or potential food safety risks to the Food Safety Foreman Supervisor or Quality Assurance team promptly.
  • Follow all workplace safety policies including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) chemical handling procedures and hazard reporting requirements.
  • Support SQF and food safety programs by adhering to sanitation procedures participating in training and maintaining awareness of contamination risks within the facility.
  • Assist with waste disposal chemical management and sanitation supply handling to support environmental compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

High school diploma or GED equivalent required; additional training related to food safety or sanitation preferred.
At least 1 year of progressively responsible experience in food manufacturing sanitation or food production required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift 45 lbs.
Ability to stand for up to 812 hours per shift.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS ABILITIES KNOWLEDGE)

Working understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation standards within food production environments.
Developing knowledge of Safe Quality Food (SQF) program requirements.
Working ability to safely use sanitation chemicals cleaning tools and PPE.
Developing mechanical aptitude to disassemble and clean production equipment.
Working ability to read and follow procedures written in English.
Ability to travel up to 0% of the time.

Compensation: $23.43
