An excellent opportunity has arisen within the company for a Mine Engineer in Short-Term Mine Design.
As a member of the Short-Term Mine Design Team you will be reporting to the team leader for Short-Term Design and Drill & Blast. The role involves all design aspects of development and stope design.
The short-term design engineers work closely with other teams within Mine Planning such as geology geotechnical ventilation and scheduling.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Final development design
Final stope design
Peer-review of co-workers designs
Update Design Layout maps (DL maps)
Participate in weekly and monthly planning meetings
As and when required assist in Drill & Blast design
As and when required assist in the creation of Budget and LOMP (Long-Term) Designs
Experience and Qualifications:
A Technical College or University Degree in Mine Engineering or other relevant education with at least two years experience in operational mining preferably underground base metal.
Previous mine planning experience is desirable.
Skills and Capabilities:
Experience with modern mine planning and geology software preferably Deswik and Leapfrog
Knowledge and experience with underground mining methods longhole open stoping and room & pillar mining an asset.
Ability to deliver high quality work in a high pace environment
Strong interpersonal skills an ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
Team player
Demonstrates a willingness to drive new opportunities and continuous improvements
Fluency in the English language both written and spoken is essential
Full clean driver licence
Additional Info:
This role will be on a normal workweek 37.5-hours Monday to Friday
There will be a degree of flexibility required as part of this role in line with operational requirements.
