Job Summary

Under general supervision the Electrician Supervisor I assists in coordinating delegating directing and reviewing the installation maintenance and repair of a variety of low voltage industrial and institutional electrical systems and their components including the maintenance of networked lighting controls LED upgrades motor controls traffic signals and capital project support.

The essential functions and duties of the position include:

  1. Supervises subordinate personnel by coordinating delegating directing and reviewing work assignments; instructing crew in routine and emergency repair of a variety of electrical systems and their components.
  2. Estimates costs time and materials required to install and/or repair a variety of industrial and institutional electrical systems
  3. Schedules the maintenance and installation activities of subordinates
  4. Writes and maintains a variety of records and reports such as daily weekly and monthly assignments injury and accident reports and inventory material reports
  5. Purchases material required for inventory and the installation and repair of electrical systems
  6. Plans and directs the overall servicing and installation of the Citys traffic signal and Airport traffic signal systems
  7. Attends and holds meetings interdepartmentally as well as with personnel from other City departments. This includes design review and safety meetings
  8. Makes regular contacts with City departments stakeholders tenants and members of the public to resolve electrical problems
  9. Prepares and submits reports for time and material used reports on work accomplished
  10. Perform other functions outlined in the 7238 Electrician Supervisor I classification

 

     


    Qualifications :

    Experience:

     

    1. Completion of a recognized Electricians apprenticeship program and two (2) years verifiable experience installing servicing and repairing both high and low voltage electrical systems of up to 600 volts devices and related components including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and typical solenoid motor controllers as a journey-level Electrician;

    OR

    A combination of training and verifiable work experience installing servicing and repairing both high and low voltage electrical systems of up to 600 volts devices and related components including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and typical solenoid motor controllers as a journey-level Electrician totaling six (6) years;

    AND

    1. Possession of a current valid driver license;

    AND

    1. Possession of computer application skills necessary to perform the duties of an Electrician Supervisor I.

    Note: Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.

    One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

     

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Journeyman Electrician experience in commercial and industrial environments with demonstrated ability to maintain troubleshoot and repair both legacy and modern electrical systems and equipment
    • Experience leading electrical crews including providing hands-on coaching of apprentices and journeymen and guiding teams involving multiple stakeholders
    • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders across diverse groups
    • Ability to adapt quickly and remain effective in a fast-paced and evolving operational environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Selection Procedures:

    The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to the interview. Depending on the number of applicants the Department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the Department will be invited for an interview. Desirable qualifications may be considered at the end the selection process.

    Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Clearance:

    Candidates for employment with the San Francisco Airport Commission are required to undergo a criminal history record check including FBI fingerprints and Security Threat Assessment in order to determine eligibility for security clearance and may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening. Per Civil Service Commission Rule Section 110.9.1 every applicant for an examination must possess and maintain the qualifications required by law and by the examination announcement for the examination. Failure to obtain and maintain security clearance may be basis for termination from employment with the Airport Commission.

    Customs Clearance:

    This position requires that the incumbent be qualified for unescorted access to the San Francisco International Airport U.S. Customs Security Area.  An application for a U.S. Custom Access Seal may be submitted to Customs ONLY after employment has commenced.  Employment in this position requires that the incumbent submit an application for successfully acquire and maintain a Customs Access Seal.  Per Civil Service Commission Rule 110.9.1 every applicant must possess and maintain the qualifications required by law and by the examination announcement for this examination.  Failure to acquire or maintain customs access a requirement for this position may be basis for termination from employment with the Airport Commission. Customs Access Seal requirements and procedures are located in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 19 Part 122 Sections 181 or 189.
