Provide system engineering support in relation to ESA in-house activities for IRIS2 entrusted tasks in the area of end-to-end system validation (supporting the role of Qualification and Validation Authority).
1. Scope of Technical Support
Support shall include system validation engineering activities in the following areas:
- Incremental qualification of the system;
- Management of the credits obtained from segment qualification (to be included in the system VCD verification control document);
- Preparation of the qualification programme of work to reach IOC and FOC;
- Definition and follow up of test campaigns for external interfaces in particular GOVSATCOM and SECMON;
- Definition and development of the system verification tools (test beds) needed to achieve full qualification;
- Follow up of any deviations/non-conformances to ensure system qualification is achieved and maintained.
Activities may include:
- Review of the test plan / test cases / test procedures prepared by the Consortium;
- Preparation of the plan towards in-orbit validation;
- Running simulations to establish independent assessment of system performance;
- Independent witnessing of test campaigns run by the Consortium or its subcontractors;
- Independent execution of tests campaigns (up to and including in orbit tests) to support the system end-to-end validation making use of ESA testbeds and ongoing in flight experiments;
- Review of non-conformances / deviations;
- Contribution to Technical risk assessment.
2. Industrial Milestone Reviews
The Contractor shall support ESA in the review of industrial contract technical milestones including but not limited to:
- Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR);
- Critical Design Reviews (CDR);
- Qualification Reviews (QR);
- In-Orbit Validation Review (IOVR);
- Service Declaration (SD).
This support shall include:
- Technical assessment of industrial deliverables;
- Preparation of review comments;
3. Deliverables (non-exhaustive list)
- Contribution to System Verification Plan;
- Contribution to System RVM (Requirements Verification Matrix);
- Review and update of System Test Plan/Test Cases/Test Procedures;
- Review and follow up of segment verification campaigns;
- Review of qualification credits and preparation of proposed System VCD updates;
- Review of system/segment non-conformances proposed action plan for NRB;
- Review of Requests for Deviation/Waiver (RFD/RFW) and proposed way forward.
Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Aerospace or a relevant discipline;
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Space Segment Engineering;
- Background in systems engineering ground systems or space mission operations;
- Knowledge of integration and verification processes for complex technical systems;
- Experience with test procedures preparation and execution;
- Strong analytical documentation and problemsolving skills;
- English proficiency.
