Location: Oklahoma City OK
Hours: Monday-Friday 0630-1630 rotating weekends and holidays
Essential Functions:
- Report to work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift
- Perform all assigned duties and processes including tasks for which you are fully qualified and those within your demonstrated capabilities
- Maintain a positive professional and supportive attitude throughout the workday
- Work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to a respectful productive work environment
Responsibilities- Follow the laboratorys procedures for specimen handling and processing test analyses reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA HIPAA OSHA and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
- Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies document all quality control activities instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed.
- Follow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
QualificationsRequired Knowledge:
- AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
- ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification
Required Experience:
- 1-year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
- Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
Special Requirements:
- Ability to maintain a professional courteous and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload
- and stress.
- Teamwork with fellow employees is a must.
- Keyboard skills are important.
- Able to work any day including weekends and holidays; able to flex hours and work overtime for other shifts as needed.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
- Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
- Frequent walking and/or standing.
- May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
