Supply Chain Intern
Position Description: This Supply Chain Internship offers students the opportunity to apply coursework in supply chain operations or business within a real-world manufacturing environment. Working closely with Axis Buyers and Shipping/Receiving Clerk youll gain hands-on experience supporting day-to-day supply chain activities that ensure timely delivery of materials and information to active projects.
This internship is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented eager to learn process-driven and excited to gain foundational experience that can support a future career in supply chain or operations.
Key Responsibilities:
ERP & Purchase Order Support
- Update the ERP system with supplier confirmations.
- Compare supplier promise dates to required dates and flag mismatches.
- Verify that confirmed pricing and terms match purchase order details.
- Communicate discrepancies to Buyers and project teams.
Supplier Follow-Up & Order Tracking
- Monitor outstanding purchase orders.
- Help expedite orders based on project needs.
- Contact suppliers to obtain status updates on past due materials and communicate changes to internal teams.
Cross-Functional Operational Support
- Assist in gathering and organizing data for supply chain reports.
- Help compile PO reports by project prior to build start dates.
- Collaborate with shipping and receiving to understand and support inbound material flow.
- Help coordinate Return Material Authorizations (RMAs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail organization and follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly in Excel
- Experience with or exposure to an ERP system is a plus but not required
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) coursework in Supply Chain Business Operations Management or a related field
