The Housekeeping/Laundry Aide is responsible for performing general housekeeping/laundry duties within established procedures in accordance with the policies of the Home and applicable legislation. As a valued member of Long Term Care and Seniors Services the Housekeeping/Laundry Aide demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality services in accordance with the organizations mission and vision.

cleaning and disinfecting of requested areas or rooms as required.
and distribute personal clothing to resident rooms.
up and deliver exchange linen/personals carts and soiled bins.
with waste management processes.
with orientation of new staff.
an active role in the infection control program in accordance with the Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC).
request assist in the implementation of quality management mechanismssuch as home audits (e.g. resident home area).
in committees as required.
in-service education sessions staff meetings committee meetings workshops etc. as directed by immediate Supervisor.
in and demonstrates an understanding of resident safety principles and practices into all day to day activities. Follows all safe work practices and procedures and immediately communicates any activity or action whichmay constitute a risk to resident safety.
as a member of the inter-disciplinary team within the Home.
utilizes all electronic systems provided.
other duties as assigned including redeployment in emergency situations.
with all relevant legislations/regulations policies and procedures.
in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Long Term Care Homes Act and their regulations in performing duties in a safe manner and follows all County of Simcoe Health & Safety policies procedures and legislation.

Completion of grade 11 or equivalent.
Ability to successfully complete a reading and comprehension assessment.
Knowledge of housekeeping / laundry equipment and processes.
Basic ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate with residents and staff.
Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire.
As a condition of employment candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing as per Public Health requirements.
A minimum of three (3) months commercial experience in a similar or related position.
Constant standing and walking during work periods turning stooping bending and lifting.
Moving carts and performing other related tasks.
This position is located in a long term care facility exposure to illnesses and germs are possible on a daily basis.
Exposed to conditions of extreme temperatures chemicals bodily fluids germs etc.
Work schedule to be determined; shifts include days evenings nights and weekends.
Salary Range: As per the collective agreement or non-union job band.
