Lead Software Development Engineer Shared Platforms

You will be working with focused delivery teams whilst partnering with colleagues across our entire business to enable and enhance the ability for our teams to deliver solutions at pace.

What youll do

• You will lead a team or cross-functional engineering team to design enable and develop software features that support the delivery of software and services within your delivery domain.
• Work with the engineering lead stakeholders and the enterprise to understand the product direction and to then translate those requirements into technical solutions.
• You will take end-to-end responsibility for technical design implementation and operational considerations
• You will play a crucial role in supporting the elevation of engineering enablement excellence and experience across the broader engineering community
• Drive engineering best practices (e.g. Operational Excellence Security Quality etc.) and set standards across your team and wider engineering teams.
• Innovate and Identify opportunities to simplify and remove friction for engineers throughout the SDLC.
• Enable our platforms and enablement teams to offer solutions that increase productivity and reduce friction.
• Drive efforts to build stronger partnerships between Product Engineering senior engineering and the Enterprise.

What were looking for

• Extensive demonstrable knowledge of designing architectures that are secure and perform at scale
• Exceptional programming skills and knowledge of building APIs using modern OO languages preferably Java SOLID principles SOA HTTP and REST
• Exceptional programming skills and knowledge Spring and Spring Boot.
• Proficiency in cloud-based projects particularly with AWS and software engineering
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and unit testing (JUnit Mockito)
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry datalakes and Observability products (metrics traces logs Go)
• Youre able to effectively communicate and work together across engineering to maximise inner-sourcing opportunities and reduce waste.
• Youll have a proven ability to deliver high quality applications at scale.
• Youre an advocate for quality and can support the team leveraging approaches such as Pair Programming TDD and BDD.

Where and how youll work

This is a permanent position and is based in our Nottingham office.

We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.

Were big on collaboration and connection so youll be based in our office 3 days a week on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays.
