Job Summary

The Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders group at VHIR is composed of clinical translational and basic researchers. The group has three laboratories (Sarcomas lab Neural Tumours lab and Rare Anaemia Disorders lab) and three research programs (Personalised Medicine Clinical Trials Unit and Stem Cell & Advanced Therapies).

The candidate will join the Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders team to work on the project SEHOP-PENCIL Study Personalised Medicine for Cancer in Children in Spain. We are seeking a Project Officer to coordinate the overall project. The person in this role will be responsible for coordinating collaboration among all project partners and leading project set-up across participating hospitals. Key responsibilities include coordinating WES/RNA-seqbased sequencing activities within the programme as well as overseeing data collection and statistical analysis activities. Furthermore the successful candidate will support other ongoing personalised medicine projects within the group.

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Coordinate collaboration and communication among all project partners.

  • Lead project set-up and implementation across participating hospitals.

  • Coordinate WES/RNA-seqbased sequencing activities within the programme.

  • Oversee project timelines deliverables and overall project progress.

  • Coordinate data collection processes across participating centres.

  • Supervise data management and ensure data quality and consistency.

  • Coordinate statistical analysis activities in collaboration with scientific and biostatistics teams.

  • Support regulatory ethical and administrative aspects related to project implementation.

  • Prepare project reports and contribute to scientific and technical documentation.

  • Provide organisational and operational support to other ongoing personalised medicine projects within the group.

  • Participate in laboratory outreach activities.

Education and qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelors degree in Science (Biology Biochemistry Pharmacy Biotechnology Genetics Medicine etc.)

  • Masters degree in Science

  • Fluency in Spanish and English

Desirable:
  • Training in project coordination and data recording

Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • At least 5 years of experience working in paediatric solid tumours.

  • At least 5 years of proven expertise in managing data registries (preferably related to Biomedicine or Health).

  • Experience in translational and/or clinical research (research projects or clinical trials).

  • Knowledge of childhood cancer genomics and the biology of paediatric cancers.

  • Knowledge of REDCap database.

  • Knowledge of next-generation sequencing whole exome sequencing & RNA sequencing techniques.

Desirable:
  • Knowledge of study databases.

  • Motivation for research.

  • Ability to work independently and proactively.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

Labour conditions:

  • Full-time position: 37.5 hours per week.

  • Starting date: As soon as possible.

  • Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.

  • Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities.
