Job Summary

Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is an independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria BC Canada. Our school provides an exceptional educational experience for students from age three to Grade 12 that focuses on providing robust academics promoting healthy social and emotional development and utilizing student-centred inquiry-based learning within a supportive community. Supported by the curricular framework of the IB we strive to offer a learning experience that nurtures creativity encourages critical thinking and prepares students for success in their post-secondary studies and beyond.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Leaders and Camp Assistants to join our Camps team and we invite qualified candidates to apply for the following opportunity:


Assistant Manager Summer Camps

Work Term: June 8 2026 - August 28 2026

Camp Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm M-F

Compensation: $28.08/hour ($27.00/hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits)


Mandatory Training

All successful candidates are expected to attend a mandatory training week prior to the start of camps unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Training Schedule:

  • MondayThursday: 9:00 am 3:00 pm
  • Friday: 9:00 am 12:00 pm (half day)


This training equips staff with the tools safety protocols and programming strategies needed to create engaging and successful GNS Camps. Its also a fun and collaborative opportunity to connect with fellow camp staff build relationships and work together to develop creative lesson plans and activity ideas before the summer begins!


Position Overview

The Assistant Manager Summer Camp Program supports the External Programs Manager in the planning coordination and day-to-day operation of Glenlyon Norfolk Schools Summer Camp program. This role assists with all aspects of camp development administration family communication and daily program delivery to ensure a safe organized and engaging camp experience for all participants. Working collaboratively with the camp leadership team the Assistant Manager helps support Camp Leaders and Camp Assistants promotes the systems and standards that guide camp operations and contributes to a positive and inclusive environment aligned with the GNS values. This role may also step in to support programming or provide coverage when staff are unavailable to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the camp day.


What Youll Bring

You are a motivated organized and collaborative individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with children families and colleagues. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring experience supporting child and youth programming ideally within a camp recreation or educational setting. You are a strong communicator who values teamwork and takes pride in delivering a high-quality experience for participants and their families. Experience in a leadership or administrative capacity within a camp or recreation environment is considered an asset. A Bachelors degree in Education Recreation or a related field is preferred along with a valid First Aid and CPR certification and a valid drivers licence.
