Reporting to the AVP Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) & Clinical Programs the Development Associate (DA) will provide day-to-day support for the development effort for the NCI-Designated Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Jefferson Health as well as for other key clinical program areas. The DA coordinates fundraising activities including identification qualification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of prospects as well as relationship building with frontline and administrative staff and faculty.

As a key member of the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) and clinical department teams the DA will work with the AVP and his/her OIA team department chairs and division directors to implement key fundraising strategies assist in translating institutional priorities into appropriate major gift fundraising programs collaborate and work closely with academic physician and clinical leadership in identifying and responding to gift opportunities and maintain the flow of information about these priorities throughout the organization. The DA will maintain an active portfolio of key gift prospects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
In collaboration with the AVP SKCCC & Clinical Programs Department Chairs and Division Directors the Development Associate will support the priorities of Jefferson Health by securing philanthropic contributions for the enterprise.

Personally develop and maintain a portfolio of individual gift prospects maintaining frequent and consistent contact with prospects department leaders and volunteers and key members of Jeffersons administrative leadership. Maintain and manage this portfolio in a manner that fosters a relationship that leads to philanthropic commitments.

In collaboration with the AVP SKCCC & Clinical Programs work to develop a comprehensive understanding of the educational research clinical and financial needs and goals of assigned clinical programs; establish maintain and grow a highly responsive and collaborative development program to meet these needs/goals.

Work with AVP and team to qualify cultivate solicit and steward top prospects.

Personally contact prospective benefactors by phone and email and make a daily concerted effort to connect with new potential donors as well as thank and steward existing supporters.

Serve as a liason for AVP SKCCC & Clinical Programs on OIA services including but not limited to communications projects donor and physician communication and events.

Responsibility for strategy execution and the achievement of defined performance goals.

Manage an individual prospect portfolio of 75 or more

Conduct a minimum of 125 Meaningful Encounters with prospects and donors per year

Generate two proposals per month soliciting at least $2500 (minimum of 24 solicitations at this level)

Interacts with co-workers visitors and other staff consistent with Jeffersons core values.

Experience with database software systems such as Microsoft Office. Excellent oral written and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both internal and external constituencies.

Exhibits time management and organizational skills.

Ability to articulate both written and orally a compelling case for major philanthropic support for Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and other clinical programs at Jefferson Health presenting objectives persuasively to potential donors.

Interacts with co-workers visitors and other staff consistent with Jeffersons core values.

Job Description

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required advanced study or additional degree is helpful.
  • 0 to 2 years of direct or related fundraising experience preferably with experience in a health related or educational institution.
  • Fundraising experience in the area of individual gifts development annual or corporate and foundation giving is desirable.
  • Experience making regular cold calls and follow-up phone calls is preferred and sending cold emails and follow-up.
