Description

The Acute Care Transport Coordination Lead oversees daily patient transport operations and supports the onboarding and training of new team members. Acting as a shift lead this role ensures transport requests are managed efficiently resources are optimized and team members maintain high performance standards.

The Lead works closely with Capacity Command Center teams EMS personnel and healthcare providers to facilitate timely and coordinated patient transfers. This role requires strong leadership operational awareness and problem-solving skills to maintain efficient transport operations while supporting high-quality patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Shift Supervision

  • Oversee daily transport operations ensuring requests are prioritized and completed efficiently.

  • Monitor team performance and address operational issues in real time to maintain service quality and operational excellence.

  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations urgent transport needs and operational challenges.

Training and Development

  • Coordinate and lead onboarding and training for new employees ensuring comprehensive understanding of protocols systems and operational procedures.

  • Conduct regular skills assessments and provide feedback to support professional development and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with leadership and quality improvement teams to develop and update training materials and operational resources.

Transport Coordination

  • Manage incoming patient transport requests and ensure optimal utilization of vehicles and EMS personnel.

  • Collaborate with Capacity Command Center teams healthcare providers and EMS crews to coordinate efficient patient transfers.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of transport activities and operational metrics.

  • Assist with preparation of performance and operational reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or healthcare operations coordination required.

Licensure / Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Prior leadership supervisory or training experience preferred.

Licensure / Certification

  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification preferred.

  • Georgia Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license preferred.
