Automotive Quality Control Technician & Service Dispatcher
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to oversee the day to day quality control of our customers vehicles. As aQuality Control Technician you will perform final inspections and road tests to ensure fixed right the first time repairs. As aPart-Time Dispatcher you will assist in assigning repair orders to technicians based on skill level and workload to maximize shop productivity. (Part time responsibility relieving the Shop Foreman)
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control (Main Focus)
- Final Inspections:Conduct thorough cosmetic and mechanical inspections of vehicles post-repair to verify all work meets shop and manufacturer standards.
- Road Testing:Perform diagnostic road tests to verify that symptoms are resolved and no new issues exist.
- Repair Order (RO) Review:Audit completed ROs for accurate documentation including complaint cause and correction (CCC) and verify that all assigned parts were installed.
- Feedback Loop:Provide constructive feedback to technicians on quality findings to support continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with the Service Management Team ensuring a high level of quality and manufacturer compliance on all automotive repairs.
Service Dispatching (Part-Time/Support)
- Work Distribution:Assign repair orders to technicians based on their specific skill levels (e.g. Lube vs. Master Tech) and current stall availability.
- Workflow Monitoring:Track the progress of active jobs and update Service Advisors on any changes to estimated completion times.
- Comeback Management:Prioritize and control all comeback repairs to ensure they receive immediate and proper attention.
- Parts Coordination:Work with the parts department to ensure technicians have required materials before jobs are dispatched.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge:Deep understanding of automotive repair processes diagnostic equipment and vehicle systems.
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an automotive service environment. Ideal for a seasoned technician no longer wishing to turn a wrench daily. Put your life skills to work.
- Organizational Skills:High level of attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.
- Software Proficiency:Familiarity with Dealership Management Systems (DMS) such as CDK Reynolds & Reynolds or X-Time.
- License:Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods within the shop area.
- Ability to safely operate various passenger vehicles for road testing.
