As VLE Manager you will lead the effective operation and development of the Engine Sheds Moodle platform supporting the Technical Education and Training (TET) teams delivery of highquality training qualifications and digital learning. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the platform remains robust engaging and aligned with organisational needs. You will also guide best practice in online learning supporting the creation of digital content and driving continuous improvement through strategic planning and platform development.

Key Responsibilities of this role

Duties within the role include:

  • Manage the daytoday operation configuration and maintenance of the Moodle VLE ensuring stability security and effective performance.

  • Oversee system upgrades patches and technical fixes working with IT teams and external partners to resolve issues promptly.

  • Provide firstline technical support to staff and learners troubleshooting issues and ensuring a positive user experience.

  • Provide training and guidance to staff on Moodle features and digital learning tools.

  • Produce and maintain user guides documentation and support materials to promote consistent VLE use.

  • Support the creation configuration and maintenance of Moodle courses assessments and learning resources.

  • Upload test and integrate digital learning content ensuring technical reliability and compliance with accessibility requirements.

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of learner data within the VLE including enrolments progress and assessment records.

  • Generate reports on learner engagement course activity and system usage to support quality assurance and improvement.

  • Ensure that all VLE content and tools meet accessibility standards and promote inclusive digital learning practices

  • Creation of a road map for future development of the VLE and an accompanying business case.

  • Recommend platform improvements enhancements and new tools based on user needs analytics and sector best practice.

  • Participate in digital learning and VLE development projects contributing expertise to support continuous improvement.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across TET IT and external partners to support effective use of the VLE.

  • Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback identify needs and inform ongoing platform development.

Key requirements of the role:

Essential:

  • Proven experience administering and supporting Moodle LMS Moodle Workplace or other VLE platforms.

  • Demonstrable skills in configuring maintaining and troubleshooting VLE systems.

  • Strong digital capability including proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and creating user guides or training materials.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proactive customerfocused approach.

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail.

  • Effective project and workload management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to build productive working relationships and collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
