Duties and responsibilities:

  1. *Works under the direction of the Department Chair to coordinate and perform a variety of tasks that facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (NREM) in a wide range of program and department matters to ensure smooth operations of the department.
  2. *Provides academic and administrative support to Department Chair and other administrative faculty (e.g. Graduate Chair and Undergraduate Advisor).
  3. *Assists in the maintenance of student records including graduate program applications (outcomes) admissions and student progress records (Forms 1 2a 2 3 4) undergraduate and graduate program enrollment data and Hauoli Mau Loa Program.
  4. *Provides support with student registration override services and with student information and management programs (UH Banner and STAR).
  5. *Assists the NREM Department Chair with course scheduling (CourseDog) and textbook orders.
  6. *Assists the NREM Department Chair with course enrollment and graduation projections.
  7. *Provides assistance in the design and maintenance of the departmental website and other publicity materials.
  8. Provide assistance in the preparation of department and college events.
  9. *Serves as a liaison between the NREM department and CTAHR ASAO CTAHR Fiscal Office Graduate Division UH Foundation RCUH and other offices throughout the University.
  10. Assists in conducting inventory of instruments equipment and/or supplies in the NREM offices and classrooms and maintaining them.
  11. Maintains and purchases supplies for the NREM office.
  12. Holds a department P-card to assist in departmental purchases.
  13. Assists in general fiscal processing.
  14. *Serves as a receptionist.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business liberal arts communications or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in administrative operations; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in administrative operations demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts terminology.
  3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with administrative operations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of administrative operations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and word processing software and utilize various office electronics (fax telephone copier machine).



Desirable Qualifications

  1. Experience in both academic and fiscal policies and procedures at the university level.
  2. Some working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the field of course planning and scheduling and/or budget management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  3. Some working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the secondary and postsecondary education as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts
  4. Functional knowledge of university and extramural funding policies and procedures.
