PAS is seeking an experienced Manager Aircraft Maintenance on behalf of PNG Air a growing regional airline headquartered in Port Moresby Papua New Guinea.
PNG Air operates a growing fleet of brand new ATR 72 and ATR 42 aircraft supporting essential connectivity across Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the airlines continued growth while leading maintenance teams and maintaining strong operational oversight.
The Manager Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for leading and managing all aircraft maintenance operations to ensure the airlines fleet maintains the highest standards of safety reliability and regulatory compliance.
Reporting to the General Manager MRO this senior leadership role oversees engineering teams maintenance facilities and operational procedures to ensure all aircraft maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company policies aviation regulations and industry best practices.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and manage all aircraft maintenance operations within the MRO environment.
Ensure aircraft maintenance activities meet the highest standards of safety quality and reliability.
Implement and maintain strong Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all engineering and maintenance teams.
Ensure maintenance occurrences and defects are reported investigated and resolved in accordance with company procedures.
Oversee engineering facilities workforce equipment and maintenance resources.
Provide expert technical advice and recommendations to senior management on engineering matters.
Liaise with executive leadership to establish and monitor strategies that support MRO operational goals.
Assist in planning and implementing aircraft induction strategies and maintenance requirements for new aircraft.
Identify operational risks and opportunities within engineering operations and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with all applicable PNG Civil Aviation regulations and company maintenance manuals.
Requirements
Candidates applying for this role should meet the following criteria:
Extensive experience in aircraft engineering or aircraft maintenance management.
Strong background within airline engineering or aviation maintenance environments.
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and maintenance operations.
Solid understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements including CASA PNG regulations.
Ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural and dynamic aviation environment.
Strong communication and decision-making skills with the ability to advise senior management on engineering matters.
Relevant formal engineering qualifications preferred.
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline are desirable but not essential.
