About the Team
The Nursing and Midwifery program sits within the College of SportHealthand Engineering. We are anacademic community committed to excellence across teaching learning research and industry engagement. The team playsa central rolein preparing future health professionals and driving innovation through partnerships across clinical community and research sectors.
About the Role
This senior academic leadership role offers the opportunity tolead the Nursing and Midwifery program as Head of Program foran initial five-yearterm while also holding an ongoing professorial appointment.
You will play a keyrole in shaping the strategic direction of the discipline overseeing curriculum development and accreditation providing research leadership and strengthening industry and community connections. Your new role includes driving high impact research mentoring staff and contributing to decision making across the College.
Position Key Duties
- Lead research productivity including securing competitive funding and producing high impact publications.
- Provide academic leadership across teaching curriculum development and course accreditation for Nursing and Midwifery.
- Represent the discipline in internal and external forumsincluding withindustry government and professional bodies.
- Build andmaintainstrong networks to support collaboration in teaching research and professional practice.
- Lead mentor and develop a high performing academic team.
- Teach and supervise higherdegreeby research students.
- Strengthen the research profile and direction of Nursing within VU.
- Ensure compliance with university and regulatory frameworks.

Classification:Academic E Classification $215121 per annum 17% superannuation
Employment Type:Full-time continuing role5-year initial appointment as Head of Program

About You
You will be someone who leads with insight initiative and collaboration bringing:
- A doctoral qualification in Nursing and AHPRA registration (or eligibility).
- National (and for Professorial level international) recognition as a disciplinary leader.
- A strong researchtrack recordwith competitive grant success and highquality publications.
- Experience developing and accrediting higher education nursing programs.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching leadership and mentorship.
- Strong networks across industry government and/or community sectors.
