Position Overview
The Director of Finance serves as RMTAs senior financial leader and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. This individual oversees a budget exceeding $20 million and leads a team of four accounting professionals.
The role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight ensuring the Authoritys financial integrity regulatory compliance and long-term fiscal sustainability. The Director of Finance regularly presents to and collaborates with the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations including budgeting forecasting reporting and internal controls
- Oversee preparation of financial statements statistical reporting and annual audit coordination
- Manage bond issuance public debt compliance and relationships with external financial partners
- Oversee investment and risk management activities
- Present financial performance and strategic insights to the Board of Directors
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Lead mentor and develop accounting staff
- Oversee and optimize financial systems supporting multiple cost centers
Qualifications
- 8 years of progressively responsible financial and accounting leadership experience
- Demonstrated supervisory experience managing accounting teams
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Masters degree (MBA or MPA) preferred
- CPA strongly preferred
- Experience in public sector finance bond indebtedness and governmental accounting preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred)
- Advanced Excel proficiency and strong presentation skills
