Job Summary

The House of Commons Digital Service and Real Property team is currently looking to staff the Systems Technician Audiovisual Event Support position. This position is full time on-site five (5) days per week. 

As a Systems Technician you will provide front-line operational support for audiovisual video conferencing and broadcast systems across the Parliamentary Precinct. Working in live production environments you will set up configure and test required equipment ensure system readiness perform maintenance and deliver direct client-facing support to Members of Parliament and operational partners. You will be responsible for the real-time operation and reliability of systems during proceedings and events while collaborating with engineering product line and IT partners responsible for system design and security.

In this role you will work with a wide range of audiovisual and multimedia technologiesincluding audio video videoconferencing broadcast and control systemsused to support parliamentary proceedings committee meetings and events. You will install and deploy equipment and support the integration of new technologies into the digital media infrastructure to ensure systems remain modern and aligned with evolving operational requirements.

You will also contribute to system upgrades and enhancements across the audiovisual environment while supporting the development of technical documentation and the adoption of tools and operational practices that promote consistency knowledge sharing and effective service delivery across teams.

As part of the position you must be willing to work weekends shift work early morning daytime and late evening shifts and potentially be on call/overtime on short notice.

Qualifications :

Education :

  • Completion of trade school college or university degree or diploma in a field related to audio-visual production technical production media arts and technology electrical engineering electronics or an acceptable combination of education technical training and experience.

Experiences :

  • Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting for a wide range of systems and equipment used in live events including audio video broadcasting webcasting videoconferencing and simultaneous interpretation;
  • Experience testing implementing and supporting systems and equipment to meet unique client requirements and event parameters including contributing to system design where required;
  • Experience assisting with management of small- to medium-sized projects including defining requirements documenting solutions testing systems and implementing technical configurations;
  • Experience supporting high-profile clients in operational environments resolving service requests and technical issues while maintaining exceptional level and professional communication;
  • Experience installing equipment racks interpreting technical diagrams and supporting cable and electrical systems management.

Assets :

  • Knowledge of specialized audiovisual and broadcast equipment used in live events including audio video webcasting videoconferencing and simultaneous interpretation systems;
  • Knowledge of the principles of electronics and network computing including routers switches and basic IP and MAC concepts.
  • Experience and/or training in configuring or programming audiovisual and broadcast control systems such as Crestron Dante Extron Media Matrix Evertz Ross Video Televic and Bosch.
  • Possession of AVIXA CTS or CTS-I certification.
