Job Overview

This is an adjunct position to direct the Drexel University Symphony Orchestra. This is a 55 75 auditioned symphony orchestra. Students are eligible for merit-based scholarships decided upon by the Director. There are weekly rehearsals followed by a concert at the end of fall winter and spring are once per week for 3 hours. There are additional duties associated with the inclusion of the orchestra within the greater Music Program and Department of Performing Arts.
Essential Functions
  • Audition students for admittance into the orchestra and potentially for scholarship consideration.
  • Program appropriate concert repertoire.
  • Be a teacher be a conductor be an administrator.
  • Work with department staff to coordinate concert publicity and production needs.
  • Maintain the orchestra library.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with Music Program and Department of Performing Arts faculty and staff.
  • Embrace the missions of the University College Department and Program.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED; Bachelors Degree in Music strongly preferred.
  • Orchestral conducting experience at any level.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
