Job Summary

Dessert Cook

The Dessert Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality baked goods and pastries used during the Key West Cooking Show. Thiis role ensures consistency creativity proper food safety practices and efficient back-of-house production that supports the live daily show environment.

Requirements:

Essential Functions

  • Prepare a variety of baked goods including cakes tarts breads cookies pastries and specialty desserts used in daily show segments.
  • Produce consistent show-ready items that match required flavor profiles and presentation standards.
  • Execute prep lists and production schedules aligned with show times and guest volume.
  • Experiment with and develop new recipes that fit Key West culinary theme.
  • Ensure pastries are prepared and staged for demo segments and guest tastings.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently over long periods of time and in groups within the scope of established rules and regulations.
  • Ability to display a positive energetic and outwardly friendly attitude towards guests and coworkers.
  • Must possess strong communication and listening skills excellent speaking reading and writing.
  • Comprehend and us technical or professional language either written or spoken to communicate complex ideas.
  • Demonstrate a high level of organizational skills attention to detail and a sense of urgency.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a baker or pastry chef (professional or high-volume environment preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques pastry fundamentals and dessert presentation.
  • Creativity and passion for developing high-quality memorable dessert.

Other Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment background check and substance abuse testing.
  • Have a passion for helping people and making their Key West experience a memorable one.
  • Maintain necessary mandated food and drink certifications.
