About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment enabling students to access the curriculum and build confidence in their learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
Assisting the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities
Helping pupils develop social emotional and communication skills
Implementing individual support strategies and education plans
Encouraging independence and confidence within the classroom environment
Supporting behaviour management strategies and maintaining a positive learning environment
Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Assisting with classroom preparation and general learning resources
Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
Have experience supporting children with SEN ideally in a primary school setting
Demonstrate patience empathy and strong communication skills
Be confident working with pupils with a range of additional needs including autism ADHD or speech and language difficulties
Have a proactive and supportive approach to learning
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or experience in education childcare or youth work would be advantageous but is not essential.
